About

A little bit about me

Bridget Elyse

From an early age I loved stories. Growing up in a 150-year-old farmhouse meant I had a lot of space and time to run around playing pretend. Weather I was exploring old barns on the property, pretending to be a pilgrim, or climbing 100-year-old trees, imaging I was in a jungle try to survive, my childhood days were filled with endless daydreams and games. I loved making stories in my head and would often try to write my fantasies down.

As I grew older my love of playing imagination transitioned to me reading books and relating to characters in TV shows. The images in the books, comics, and graphic novels, captivated me. They expressed and brought to life the worlds I had created in my head. I found How To books on drawing cartoons and manga characters and strove to become like the masters I admired in my stories. While I wasn’t any good then and many told me to pursue safer careers, I knew I wanted to become an illustrator. I wanted to create worlds and characters like so many of the books that I read, and today I get to.

After going to UNC Charlotte to get a BFA in Art concentrating in Illustration and Digital Media, I continued my studies at Savannah College of Art and Design to get an MFA in Illustration. I am continuing every day to improve my craft and create stories that speak to audiences, allowing them to join me on all my crazy adventures to different worlds. I hope that you will join me on my journey too.
